We’ve been using the ice maker for a few weeks now, and overall it works very well. Take note of it’s size (roughly 12″w x 14″d x 15″ h) if you’re planning on using it as a counter-top unit — it’s compact but not tiny. It is also louder than expected when the compressor cycles on (a humming / buzzing sound roughly as loud as a person talking), but thankfully this only lasts a few minutes every half-hour or so, so it’s not a huge deal. It makes ice in three different sizes, and the ice is good and clear (after an initial cleaning step, see below). It works quickly, making ice within 15 minutes of turn-on and constantly replenishing the supply as it slowly melts in the ice collection bucket if you don’t use the ice; as you use up the ice, you simply refill the water supply.
Two other minor negatives: first, the manufacturer uses super-adhesive blue tape to immobilize parts inside the unit during shipment. It is impossible to get rid of the sticky residue the tape leaves behind once removed, although it doesn’t seem to affect the taste of the ice or anything. A less adhesive tape, such as a masking tape, would probably serve the same purpose without leaving a residue, however. Just a minor complaint. The other thing is that the unit had an extremely strong, very unpleasant smell initially. It smelled like plastic / rubber, and this smell transferred to the ice, which made using the ice disagreeable and probably inadvisable. Their support staff were helpful, however, and suggested running the machine through a couple of cycles with a mix of water and vinegar. This was a great idea and got rid of the smell almost entirely. The ice now smells and tastes perfect — that is, it is odorless and tasteless, as ice should be!

We take it on trips out to the river and camping trips for easy access to ice. We just plug it into the generator and refill it with water and the ice keeps coming out. At home we use the ice maker during parties to supplement ice from the freezer. It’s nice because we can stay and entertain our guests instead of running to the store for ice.

We purchased our unit to take camping and eliminate those “ice runs” every day or two while camping.
The unit is small and fairly light weight considering what it does and very easy to use.
We had read reviews on similer products and were wondering if the first few batches would have a plastic taste, gladly this was not the case.
It makes ice faster then we can use it and we are very happy with it.

A few months ago we ordered this ice maker. The first ice maker arrived dead on arrival. We were very discouraged as this happens much too often and normally is a hassle returning and getting credit or replacement. We communicated via e-mail with Air & Water, Inc, the vendor, and a new machine was promptly sent with a return label for the non-operative machine.
We have refrained from writing a review determining our sentiments. The verdict is in. We love it. Granted it is noisy, if left unattended the ice melts and recycles into more ice. Big deal! It makes ice – and plenty of it. When first received we bagged the ice to make sure we had plenty. We couldn’t keep up and we had ice in every freezer compartment. Eventually, we quit bagging and just used out of the machine. We even pour ice into our non-working refrigerator ice maker. The refrigerator ice maker allows us to have crushed ice. It’s the perfect system for us.
When we go camping, we take the ice maker with us. We could even use it on the patio if we ever entertained ;>) .
It finally went south. We got less than a year out of it. Would give it less than one star now. It was great while it worked.

First, I would just like to say that I bought this particular item because of the positive reviews. That said, I still can’t tell you how well it makes ice due to both units that were sent to me don’t work. Maybe it was the military postal service’s shotty handling, I don’t know. Fact is, I am very disapointed. I guess I’ll just have to drink warm whiskey. Second, Air and Water’s customer service people are very nice, I don’t mean to portray any hostility toward them. That does not make up for a below average, chinese manufactured p.o.s.
Update:
I was able to take the second unit apart and repair the electrical malfunctions, it now works great. If you are a whiskey drinker, drink fast. The ice isn’t clear, so it melts faster than normal. Other than that, I love this thing. (I have no problem drinking fast);}
