Emerson Countertop Ice Maker
Just when you thought all countertop ice makers were created equal we have the entry from Emerson. Really, this is one of those items that it seems one plant in China is making and buyers go to an electronics show in Taiwan and put in orders for it. The only thing that changes is the outside shell. Sorta like bread makers of past. Again we have an ice maker that puts out 26 pounds of ice a day in three sizes and has a 2 pound capacity. Get the 1 year warranty on this item and you should be good to go.
The big difference here is that Emerson is that manufacturer. So they naturally, or one would hope, put the best product in their line and make copies for everyone else. The Emerson Countertop Ice Maker weighs around 27 pounds and looks good anywhere. You can entertain and have this unit working away fairly silently while it makes ice quickly and automatically shuts off when the tray is full. Take that ice and use it, or toss it in the freezer like many do and you have yourself a good setup for a large party.
Problems with the Emerson Countertop Ice Maker have been many. A lot of people report that the unit simply quits working after the first week. A few units had the low water light staying on even after the unit was filled with water. If you rock the unit a bit, this frees up the float and it will work. But it shouldn’t really stick in the first place. Thermostat problems plague the unit as well, but a fix is to simply hold the thermostat button down until it resets, warming it up with your fingers. And as always, a few people had problems with Emerson’s tech support having to wait, but generally very accommodating with having you send the unit back to them. Make sure you get a phone number to keep the communication open.
Going camping? This is an excellent take along because at 300 watts you can be making ice when you need it. And how many times have you been out there and the ice was clear across the campgrounds? Plus you actually save some money with this, so once you do get a working unit, this will be a great workhorse. Most people think it’s a great deal for the money.
If you have problems with your Emerson Countertop Ice Maker, I suggest taking it back to the place where you purchased it. If you continue to have problems with it, contact Emerson about it using the number that is in the instruction manual. If it still doesn’t work for you, my recommendation is to simply take the unit back and get your money back. This is one of those items that either works or it doesn’t and the technology is such that it is easy to break. Too many little working floats and switches and thermostats, and too little money in manufacturing the product using cheap materials. What can you say?
